As soon as I opened the package, I noticed a very irritating bleach/chemical smell. My throat is irritated after working with it, and I am worried about my guinea pigs breathing it for an extended time. All 3 bags are going in the trash - I won't risk long-term health issues for my piggies, just to get "soft and white" bedding.

We have several rabbits and guinea pigs. Ultra really controls the odor. It absorbs well and is easy to clean from litter boxes. While it a little more expensive than the regular gray litter, Ultra has far less dust.

Really like this product for keeping the whole cage clean as possible. I use spot clean, and use baby wipes to keep it clean too, and really there's no foul smell at all. The only negative is the product is expensive!

The gps live on their bedding, so it has to be the best...w/o fragrances, soft, w/o dust, absorbent. Carefresh Ultra is all I would use for them. Half the cage has this bedding, and the other half, fleece over towels. Like the fact it is white, as I can monitor the color of the urine (had one w/ a bladder infection and noticed the pinkish urine right away). PFD has the best prices on this item and the delivery is very fast.

I have used this product since I got our hamster. It is nice because you can pick out the wet bedding so you don't have to change the bedding as often as shavings. It is also easy to spot the "poo" since the bedding is white. I will never use anything else and my ham seems to like it. He carries it into his nest and has a very soft pile to sleep on.

As outlined in my "PROS" list above, this is, without a doubt, the most effective bedding money can buy, bar none! Although this was the first time I've purchased it from PetFoodDirect.com, their price is MUCH lower than I've found anywhere on the web or in our local, retail pet stores. The BEST thing it offers is odor control. Plus, it doesn't contain any of those bad things that can harm small, furry animals (such as pine or cedar oils, which have been linked to pet health problems.) It's "natural" with NO chemical contaminants or inks. I absolutely LOVE it & would never buy any other kind!

No dust, absorbent and odorless. Perfect for the gps that prefer to lie/sleep on it when it is hot(half of the cage has fleece over towels, which they prefer when it is cold). Easy to clean and affordable, when on sale. Cannot find it cheaper anywhere else. Will not use any other bedding w/ the gps (sensitive respiratory system). Also love this company's fast shipping.

Carefresh Ultra is the best product on the market for rabbit litter boxes and guinea pig houses. It has less dust than the regular Carefresh. It absorbs odors very well. It is safe for both rabbits and guinea pigs to eat. It is easy to clean.
There are two cons but I can live with both of them. It costs more than regular Carefresh and it has more dust than I would like.

This just does not work for my rabbit. She uses a little box only and keeps dragging this out of her box. It's bulky and is difficult to clean out of her cage. It gets stuck in the plastic grate and behind the lower pan. Luckily she spends most of the day of her hutch. I'm using this in the corner litter pan in my kitchen. It's dirty looking and smells more than my previous litter.

We use this bedding for our guinea pig. It's soft and absorbent and is helpful if your pet is having medical issues because of the white color (makes it easier to see if your pet is having urinary problems).

Depending on what U & Ur pet likes will determine whether to use the Ultra or Regular Carefresh. The Ultra is sooo soft but creates a cotton type dust (eventually does settle). The Regular isn't as soft but doesn't create the dust.

I use CareFresh Ultra for my hamster. This bedding is the best for controlling odors and is most absorbent while leaving minimal amount of dust. I have used CareFresh Ultra for years now. I have had dwarf hamsters as well as my current full sized hamster and they all enjoyed it for nesting. I appreciate the odor control and cleaning the cage is a breeze. I use nothing else except CareFresh Ultra. I definitely recommend this product.
