All rabbits need high fiber to keep their digestive systems working properly, plus basic vitamins and minerals to maximize their health. Oxbow Bunny Basics combines needed fiber with stabilized nutrients to assure a well-balanced diet when served with Oxbow loose grass hays. Oxbow Animal Health's founder and owner John Miller created the industry's first timothy-based pellet for small herbivores, the basis of Oxbow Bunny Basics.

Comments about Oxbow Bunny Basics (Timothy Based):

One of my house rabbits was dropping cecotropes because of eating too many alfalfa based pellets. His energy level was down and he was not himself even though he had unlimited timothy hay. I fed him only timothy hay until the problem cleared (about 4 days) and then gradually began adding vegetables again. I then introduced the timothy hay based oxbow pellets according to the feeding directions on the package. He loves them! And I've never seen him more energetic! He's back to old self and then some. Great product...I'll never go back to alfalfa pellets.

My one year old guinea pig adapts to this food very quickly. I mixed this with the old brand when I gave her this for the first time and I was surpirsed to see that the majority of her leftover was from the old brand.

Comments about Oxbow Bunny Basics (Timothy Based):

This is the best bunny food on the market. It is a timothy based food product which is exactly what bunnies need after they have passed their "baby" stage. Most, if not all others, are alfalfa based which is basically mcdonalds for bunnies and can cause excess fat. My bunnies love this food and it lasts for a good bit.

Oxbow only uses Timothy Hay and other rabbit friendly grasses among their main ingredients as compared to other brands that use corn meal and soy or wheat (which rabbits cannot digest). My four bunnies love their pellets and they maintain a healthy weight as I follow Oxbow's feeding instructions. All their products are great and I love being able to purchase a 50 lb. bag [...]

Comments about Oxbow Bunny Basics (Timothy Based):

This is the best food to feed your adult pet rabbit. If your rabbit is under six months old, you need to feed the alfalfa based hay pellets. Please do not buy pellets with corn and other stuff. It can kill your rabbit. Check with the House Rabbit Society for proper dietary information.

Comments about Oxbow Bunny Basics (Timothy Based):

All four of my bunnies love to chow down on this Timothy-based feed. My oldest bun, at age 7 is healthy and lively. They've been on a consistent diet of 1/4 cup (per bunny 5-10 lbs) once in the morning and another at bedtime as an addition to a hearty handful of fresh timothy hay AND fresh dark green veggies.

My vet recommended that rabbit chow NOT contain any soy, wheat, corn, or high amounts of alfalfa and that Timothy hay should be the predominant ingredient in the feed. I trust Oxbow products to deliver high quality nutrition that meets the special dietary needs of rabbits.

Comments about Oxbow Bunny Basics (Timothy Based):

Great pellets. We only fed them little pellets. They liked them and because they are timothy based it is good for them (they ate timothy hay from the same manufacturer). I tried other brands and they were dusty and weird smell, but these pellets smelled of hay and had no dust (only some at the end of the bag but nothing serious like the others). I highly recommend this product.
